Kings Camps has developed a special award programme designed to help young people who are interested in sports and developing their leadership and coaching skills that could enhance their career prospects.
If you want to combine a week of sports and games with a chance to complete leadership modules, then our Rookie Award is perfect for you.
Being a Rookie was awesome fun, plus I’ve done loads of coaching and sports session development, that’s definitely going on my UCAS application.
The programme is run at Kings Camps across the UK during the Easter and summer holidays. It offers a unique opportunity to work with children and will enhance your Record of Achievement, University Application or CV. At the beginning of camp, Rookies work together to determine their timetable and decide what sports and activities they want to focus on. The site manager and staff team set tasks, evaluate sessions and provide coaching input to you right through the programme.
The Rookie Award is split into four levels, culminating in the Junior Coach Award. Level one starts with the basics of sports coaching and leadership, Rookies experience and gain an understanding of sports leadership before progressing to other levels that provide practical work experience, including shadowing the staff-team.
