School holidays can be challenging for many families, particularly those facing financial hardship, illness, bereavement, or other difficult circumstances. At Kings Camps, our Supporting Families programme (SF) helps ensure that children can enjoy active, engaging school holiday experiences regardless of their family’s situation.

  • Funded and subsidised holiday camp places

Since 1991, Kings Camps has provided assisted places to more than 10,000 children and families across the UK. Through our Supporting Families programme, we offer subsidised holiday camp places that give children the opportunity to take part in fun, structured activities while providing valuable respite and support for parents and carers.

Each year, we provide hundreds of funded places through applications from families, support workers and pastoral teams. Depending on individual circumstances, places may be partially subsidised or, in exceptional cases, fully funded. Our SF programme runs adjacent to schemes such as free school meals and pupil premium, with many children who are on these schemes being eligible for our subsidised places on camp. Our goal this year is to provide 390 subsided places for children across the UK at our venues.

  • Making a positive difference during school holidays

School holidays can place significant financial and emotional pressure on families. Our programme helps reduce these challenges by providing children with a safe, active environment where they can build confidence, make friends, and enjoy new experiences.

One parent described the programme as “a life saver for us as a family” after receiving support while recovering from cancer treatment. Their child benefited from a positive and supportive environment during a difficult period, while the family received much needed assistance with holiday childcare costs.

We work closely with organisations including Mums in Need, Barnardo’s Scotland, and Time-Matters UK to reach families who need support most. We also partner with schools, hospices, social workers, and community support services to ensure places are awarded fairly and effectively.

  • Apply for a Supporting Families place

Families can apply directly for support through the Kings Camps Supporting Families programme. Applications must be submitted before the relevant seasonal deadline to allow time for assessment and notification.
