If you’re after a fun and challenging experience with a difference, the Rookie Sports Leadership Award is a great way for you to spend your holiday while gaining great sports coaching and leadership experience!

You’ll get to assist our sports coaches, lead activity sessions, play sport and even take on the coaches’ challenges!

Typical day

9.30am Lead Kids Camp warm-up
9.45am Helping with Kids Camp activity sessions
10.45am Break
11am Planning leadership task
11.45am Hockey
12.30pm Lunch & Rookie challenges
1.30pm Volleyball
2.30pm Break

Take on an awesome challenge

The Rookie Sports Leadership Award is a challenging programme that aims to develop your self-confidence, sports coaching ability and leadership skills. Working alongside the sports Leaders Award, you’ll progress through a series of sports coaching and leadership tasks that will develop your sports coaching and leadership skills, giving you great work experience for a future career in sports coaching or childcare.”

On the Rookie Sports Leadership Award, you’ll work your way through four awards (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum), each a little more challenging than the last. You’ll have your own Rookie Sports Leadership Award handbook to work through while being assessed and supported by experienced Rookie sports coaches. But don’t worry, the Rookie Sports Leadership Award is not all work (in fact it’s mostly play) - you’ll get the chance to play plenty of sport, try new activities and even take on the coaches’ challenges!

The Rookie Sports Leadership Award takes place over full-weeks, usually from 9.30am until 4pm each day (times may vary). We welcome boys and girls to join us and it doesn’t matter if you’re totally sporty; a beginner at sport or just love to work with children, the Rookie Sports Leadership will bring out the best in you; developing your confidence, sporting skills and leadership ability.

Top sports coaching

We don’t run our Rookie Sports Leadership Award activity camps just anywhere – every one of our holiday camp venues are leading schools and universities with top sports facilities and plenty of outdoor space to play and coach sport. We employ only the best (and most fun) coaching staff, who are all qualified, have enhanced CRB disclosures and are awesome at coaching different sports and even better at keeping you on your toes and developing your sports leadership skills.

Awards

Bronze Award

A foundation in key sports coaching and leadership skills like organisation, activity session planning and working with children.

Silver Award

You’ll explore child development and learn how to adapt sports coaching sessions to suit children of different ages and across different sports.

Gold Award

You’ll develop your health and safety awareness, learn how to plan sessions, develop your sports coaching ability and leadership skills.

Platinum Award

You’ll look at in-depth sports coaching and childcare techniques enhance your leadership skills and refine your sports coaching ability.
