What happens if I can’t attend induction day?

All staff are required to attend their camp’s induction day, usually held the weekend before camp starts. This is a paid training day and forms a key part of your employment contract. Failure to attend may result in your contract being terminated.

If you have prior commitments that absolutely cannot be changed, please try to attend at least part of the day. If you’re unable to attend any portion of the day, you must let your Camp Manager know as soon as possible.

They will arrange for you to arrive 30 minutes early on your first day to complete the necessary checks.

What online courses do I need to complete?

We want you to be equipped to deliver an amazing camp experience. The following courses are mandatory:

Regional Manager: Safeguarding, Looking After Children, Supplementary Safeguarding for Managers, Regional Management and Leadership

Camp/ Assistant Manager: Safeguarding, Looking After Children, Supplementary Safeguarding for Managers, Camp Management and Leadership

Swimming Teacher/ Lifeguard: Safeguarding, Looking After Children, Swimming at Kings Camps

We have additional courses available to provide opportunities for further development, allowing you to gain a deeper understanding of all aspects of Kings Camps.!

When is my induction day?

Induction day takes place prior to camp each season. All Red Tops must attend induction day to be fully prepared for work.

It’s a paid day and typically runs the Saturday morning before camp begins, or Sunday morning for residential venues.

Exact dates, times and details about the day can be found on our website.

Swim & Lifeguard

Do I need to do a depth test if my lifeguard qualification depth is less than the depth of the pool I’ll be working at?

In some cases, yes. If a depth test is required by the venue, a member of the recruitment or operations team will contact you to explain the process.

This usually takes place either on your induction day or your first day at camp. You’ll need to arrive early and be prepared to get in the water and dry off afterwards.

A member of the venue’s leisure team will witness and then sign off on the test.

Why are swim hours different from the rest of the camp schedule?

Swim hours are determined by factors including number of children booked onto camp, and pool access times given by the venue.

In the summer, we’ll aim to swim across 3 separate sessions over the course of the week.

Swim hours are usually established 1-2 weeks before camp starts. We appreciate this may seem a little late, but this is standard due to child bookings.

Onboarding

How can I check if I’ve completed all necessary checks?

Login to your profile to view your contract, where you’ll also find your ‘pre-employment checks’.

Ensure you have worked through all of the checks listed there.
