We’ve had the privilege of being partnered with military families for over 10 years to enable children from Navy families the chance to experience Kings Camps and we appoint the most reliable and inspiring Red Tops to represent us across all our Military locations.

Working at a military location gives you the opportunity to visit beautiful locations, make amazing memories, coach a wide range of sports, socialise with your team, learn new skills and most importantly, give children a holiday to remember.

Whilst the day-to-day delivery of activities matches that of any other Kings Camps experience, working at a military camp is a great opportunity to travel, to be away from home with a lot of your expenses covered and form great friendships in a very different environment.

Working with children from military and naval families is a highlight as it comes with new opportunities for development and great experiences! One of our Red Tops

What to expect

Free time and dining

Military camps run from 08:00-17:00 so after camp, you’ll get to see what happens on a day-to-day basis, and mix with those who are working onsite, with some bases even inviting you and the team for dinner in the “mess” (a pay as you dine facility with a dress code) to eat and relax.

One of the benefits of working at a military camp is that you will have plenty of time to have fun out of hours. After camp finishes, you’ll have the chance to explore the local areas.

You’ll be working in a team of up to 10 other like-minded individuals, some of which will be in shared accommodation with you during your stay and we’ll even provide a contribution to your food whilst you’re there!

Security vetting

At some sites, you will be staying ‘behind the wire’ on a live military base, this is an opportunity like no other, but it means you’ll be expected to complete a full military security vetting process before being allowed entry. Accessing military bases involves detailed ID checks and strict security protocols. These procedures are critical for national security, and your patience and cooperation are essential.

Travel expectations

Our team will work with you on a travel plan to get you to site and back and we do expect trains being booked early or for staff to car share to keep costs to a minimum.

You must agree your travel plans with us before booking any travel plans so we can take down your vehicle details for entry to the base and agree your travel contribution. Kings do not cover the whole cost of your travel but will offer some financial support.

As part of these opportunities, you must consider travel days and be prepared to travel to base on the Saturday before camp, travel home will be on the Friday night or Saturday post camp.

Where you’ll stay

Kings will both arrange and cover the cost of the accommodation during your stay.

Accommodation can vary depending on the base and the location, you may be staying in military housing with families in adjoining housing, you may be sharing a dorm with a colleague or you may be in a shared building but on different floors to the rest of your team. In most circumstances, staff will be in shared rooms with an ensuite.

Accommodation and check-in details will be sent as soon as they are available. Please note that often the check-in details are not sent until 24 hours in advance.

FAQs

Where are these camps based?

Many Army and Navy bases are set in some of the UK’s most stunning locations, so you can spend your evenings enjoying fish & chips on the beach, taking a refreshing dip in the sea, and making memories while building friendships that will last a lifetime!

When will I receive details about where I'm staying?

If you’re not working ‘behind the wire’, you will either stay in a hotel or Airbnb. Accommodation and check-in details will be sent as soon as they are available. Please note that often the check-in details are not sent until 24 hours in advance.
