Our charitable work of inspiring children through sport doesn’t just stop at Kings Camps. Kings Volunteer, also part of the Kings Foundation, works with disadvantaged children wherever they are. Our specially designed back-packs have been developed to reach some of the world’s most remote communities; they’re also pretty handy in UK cities too!
In the right hands, with the right training, these £250 packs of equipment enrich the lives of children and young people around the world.
Currently, there are 13,500 children enjoying an Base Pack experience every week!
But we’d like to do more – and would like to ask for your help and support.
Support our very special Triathlon – Kings’ style!
We’ve developed our very own Triathlon with lots of ways for you to get involved in our Base Pack Challenge!
For the swim event, our summer camps across the country are getting involved with special Wet Wednesday events, including our own version of the Ice Bucket Challenge for our coaches!
Support your local camp
Join us each Wednesday for an afternoon of water fun and support your local camp’s fundraising.
We’ve had some great events so far, including a water carnival in Hull, a water-slide challenge in Newcastle-under-Lyme and swimathons in Blackburn, Coventry, Chester, Harrogate and Nottingham – the little swimmers at our Nottingham University camp swam a massive 47,455 metres throughout the day! Thanks to everybody who has taken part so far and sponsored their child by making a donation to Kings Volunteer.
Our Cycling-keen CEO, Richard Holmes, leads a team of 12 cyclists in Le Raid Pyranees – 500 miles and 50,000 feet in under 100 hours across the Pyrenean mountains! He promises that it’s a tough challenge, despite his love of cycling!
Not to miss out on the fun, our Head Office team are also getting involved in the Kings-style Triathlon. A team of 12 and counting (gentle nudge to those not yet signed up!) are taking part in the 10K Great Yorkshire Run at the end of September in our home city of Sheffield.
Your support will help us reach more communities around the world…
Around 250 base packs have been awarded to date, with 280 committed volunteers regularly delivering Base Pack sessions, allowing more than 13,500 children per week to enjoy opportunities to have fun, be active, and learn together in their local communities. The Base Packs are currently being used in around ten countries including Botswana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Mozambique, South Africa, Uganda, Romania, Liberia, Pakistan and the UK.
The sports equipment and resources can be used in any context, and with specialist training and inspiration from our team, volunteers are able to use the pack and its contents to have an amazing impact on the children and young people in their local communities.
There is still so much for us to do – but together we can do so much more!

Kings Camps is itself a charitable venture, with thousands of places offered each year at subsidised rates to those in need through our Supporting Families programme, as well as free places through our Children in Need Hospital Project!
