Job Description: Group Carer
To be responsible for the care and welfare of a group of 16 children aged 5-7 years old and to assist the Group Coach in coaching.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- To focus on the children at all times. To be aware of and address all needs of this particular age range of children To welcome and get to know the children, ensuring that their enjoyment is your prime concern. To encourage children, integrating unhappy children.
- To ensure the Health and Safety of children. To be fully aware of Health and Safety policies relating to this specific age group and inform the Group Coach of any contravention of policy. Role model a high standard of safety to children in all activities.
- To help plan, prepare and deliver quality, fun, coaching sessions for each sport activity that you are timetabled for. To assist the group coach in planning and delivering coaching sessions. To be able to lead a coaching session, in a sport you have a particular interest or skill, under the direction of the Group Coach.
- To supervise lunch, breaks and related activities. To provide adequate supervision to ensure children are safe and happy. Assist in lunchtime activities to keep the supervision tight and keep the children interested.
- To ensure the safe and effective use of venue facilities and equipment. To respect the venue facilities and ensure they are treated with care and left clean and tidy at the end of each day. Check the equipment daily to prevent loss of equipment and identify damaged items.
- To take the role of a ‘Responsible Adult’ in the pool sessions. To participate in the swimming sessions, actively watching and encouraging children. Observe the children at all times, watching for any children in difficulty, and alerting the lifeguards immediately.
