Volunteer Work in Africa

Since 2002, The King’s Foundation has been directly reaching out to children in some of the most deprived regions of Africa. It is a real privilege to be able to use sport to develop young people who live in such difficult circumstances and we have seen amazing outcomes from our work.

We need volunteers that are experienced or qualified in sports coaching or the youth or children’s related sector. If this describes you then there are two ways in which you can use your skills and abilities to help change the lives of children in Africa.

Long Term Service

We are looking for people with previous travel and service experience, who are at least 21 years, who have experience or qualifications in sport or children’s and young people’s Christian ministry and who are willing to serve in a developing country for at least 12 months. Their focus is to develop indigenous leaders and part of this process involves working shoulder to shoulder with local volunteers and directly with the children in their care. They are also involved in teaching, coaching and mentoring. We provide workers with structure, direction and emotional, spiritual and financial support.

Short Term Team Visits

The focus of our team visits is to support and aid the work of our longer term co-ordinators. Teams are involved in training local volunteers in a number of areas including sports coaching, leadership and communication skills, ministry and presenting the Gospel, and practical ways to get their outreach projects up and running. Visits are usually two weeks in duration and take place during the summer months. The experience is so positive that many team members return with us year on year.

All workers must be fully supportive of the Christian ethos of the King’s Foundation.
